My studio is based around a Roland VS1880 digital workstation synchronized to a PC running Cakewalk Sonar. My primary MIDI controller is a Casio MG510 MIDI guitar controller. I added a Kahler whang bar, Jackson humbucker in the bridge position and Lace sensor pickups in the middle and neck position. I don't use any keyboards. I sometimes use a MIDI drum pad, the one that looks like Mickey Mouse. I modified another Casio MG510 and made it fretless.
My synths include a Yamaha VL70M and a Yamaha TG500, E-mu EPS sampler and three E-mu Proteus modules, the Orchestra, World and Procussion. I recently added as Roland Super JV-1080. I also use several DXi instruments with lots of drum and percussion samples.
I have a Rocktron Voodu Valve preamp for most of the guitar amplification, and recently added a Lin6 PodPro. On occasion I also use a Pearce preamp. I knew Dan Pearce when I lived in Buffalo, NY and worked at Moog Music so I figured I had to get one of his preamps when I saw it used at Guitar Showcase.
I have a number of guitars in addition to the Casio MG510. From Gibson: early 1970s Les Paul; 1965 ES345-TDC; early '60s ES335-12 strung with 6 strings and a 1954 or 1955 ES175 with a single P90 pickup. I have a custom built parts guitar Strat with Lace sensors with a really nice two-tone finish done by Dean Zelinski (sp?) of Dean Guitars years ago. I have a 1980s Fender Telecaster, a Taylor 810 acoustic, a Ovation nylon string and one of the new Danelectro 12 strings. I recently got a used Kramer bass. These things weigh a ton but sound really nice.
